More Naps
Although you might sleep less overnight, as you get older, you will be more inclined to take power naps—and that’s not a bad thing. Seniors take multiple naps throughout the day to recharge themselves and stay mentally fresh. Since getting to sleep at night often takes longer and can come with multiple disturbances, like trips to the bathroom or coughing, take as many naps as you need.
However, do keep in mind that excessive fatigue is not normal, even in senior citizens. If you are feeling lethargic and apathetic, it could be a symptom of something else, such as depression or cardiovascular disease. Be sure to talk to a medical professional immediately.
