Swollen Legs

Kidney cancer, among other types of cancer like ovarian and liver cancer cause fluid to build up in the tissues beneath the skin and above the circulatory system which in turn, causes the lower legs to swell. This type of swelling is called edema. It makes the legs puffy and bulky making it difficult to walk. The swelling can also alter a person’s range of motion. It doesn’t matter if you have other symptoms associated with edema such as rapid weight gain or decreased urine production, you must get medical help to eliminate possibilities like cancerous growth making it impossible for the kidneys to carry out their natural filtering role effectively.

Luckily, most kidney cancer cases can be detected early with routine imaging tests and good patient reporting. Protruding lumps or massive physical changes mean the cancer is already past the early stages. The faster you detect and report kidney-related problems, the better it will be for your prognosis. Pay special attention to your bathroom habits and report any changes. Also, never ignore general comfort. There are many cases of seemingly unrelated complaints that have ended up in kidney cancer detection.
