These brain tumors are common among children, teenagers, and young adults. Craniopharyngiomas form above the pituitary, at the brain’s base causing numerous health problems as they amass. The problems include partial or total vision loss if the tumors exert pressure on the optic nerve. Craniopharyngiomas are also known to cause weight gain, stunted growth, and low hormonal levels.
