Ependymoma
Ependymal brain tumors originate from the ependyma, the cells lining the passageways inside the brain where the CSF (cerebrospinal fluid) is made and stored. The tumors can be infratentorial (in the brain beneath the tentorium cerebelli) or supratentorial (in the cerebral hemisphere). There are many variations of the ependymomas. The variations include; subependymal giant-cell astrocytoma, subependymoma, and malignant ependymoma. Other variations such as ependymoblastoma, common among infants and children below three years isn’t considered a variation of ependymoma anymore.
