Tips To Prevent The Flu

Wash Your Hands

The flu (and other viruses that cause flu-like symptoms) can survive on hard surfaces for 24 hours, sometimes even longer. Consider this the next time you go into a public restroom, for example, and have to touch numerous surfaces. Get into the habit of washing your hands regularly and applying hand sanitizer when you can’t. This is especially important during virus outbreaks or when preparing food.

Use your hand sanitizer after shaking hands with someone, using public transportation, touching the ATM, or with any communal surfaces, such as doorknobs, countertops, and light switches.

When you wash your hands, make sure you are using soap and warm water. Rub your hands and fingers, lathing up well, for at least 20 seconds. Then rinse off completely and dry off.
