Tips To Prevent The Flu

Stopping Touch Your Face

So many people will unknowingly touch their face and hair throughout the day, simply out of habit. This is especially true for people who self-soothe by rubbing their temples or run their hands through their hair. However, during flu season, the last thing you want is to go from shaking someone’s hand to itching your nose or touching your mouth without washing your hands first. (Even if you’ve washed your hands, please refrain from touching your face.)

Viruses spread mostly through contact, so whenever you touch a contaminated surface then someplace with a mucous membrane, such as your eyes or nose, you significantly increase the risk of getting sick. The virus gets immediate access to your system.

Also, if you are wearing a face mask, don’t touch the mask! Leave it alone once you have it on while doing errands. If you touch the mask, anything you are trying to protect yourself from is now on your hands. Then, if you happen to rub your forehead because you’re uncomfortable wearing the mask or sweating, or even if you touch another surface, the virus could go anywhere.
