Separate Your Belongings
Living with other people when you should be keeping your distance to stop the spread of diseases is challenging. During this time, sharing doesn’t mean you care. In fact, you can afford to be a little selfish. With the flu virus able to stay alive on surfaces for 24 to 48 hours, you need to make sure that you aren’t trading any contaminated goods with other members of the household.
This is especially true if someone in the house is sick. Separate personal items that run the risk of carrying the diseases, such as toys, toothbrushes, drinking cups and bottles, as well as blankets and other things. If you suspect that something has come in contact with the virus, wash the item either with hot soapy water or, if it’s clothing, put it in the laundry right away.
