Erectile Dysfunction
Testosterone is responsible for sexual drive and function in men. Erections are stimulated by the release of nitric oxide, and while protein is one of the few nutrients that carry nitrogen, testosterone is necessary to trigger the release of nitric oxide. When you lack testosterone, erections either become impossible or are not firm enough for sexual intercourse.
Another reason men with low-T experience erectile dysfunction would be the presence of something called “genital numbness.” While this doesn’t mean that the penis and testicles are entirely free of sensation, it does mean that the touch that usually sparks sexual arousal cannot be felt. In fact, you might describe the sensation as “wrong” or “uncomfortable” if you have Low-T.
