Chest Pain
For more severe cases of Lupus, inflammation can become so problematic that it will begin affecting the major organ systems. Chest pain occurs when the lungs are inflamed due to a disruption in proper immune system functioning. The lungs will swell, putting pressure against the rib cage, and causing a chronic ache in the chest. Left untreated, the condition puts the sufferer at risk of pneumonia, another illness with a plethora of medical complications.
Symptoms of pneumonia include coughing, fever, chills, and labored breathing that occurs even without physical exertion or exercise. In the event that you develop pneumonia and chest pain out of nowhere, your doctor will suspect that Lupus is the cause. If you have worsening chest pain, be sure to talk to a medical professional.
