Joint Inflammation
Another common symptom of Lupus is joint inflammation, usually in the hands, hips, knees, legs, ankles, and feet. In fact, joint paint and inflammation is often considered the first symptom of Lupus and is a tell-tale sign. Oftentimes, it is most visible in energetic individuals who are suddenly doubled over with crippling joint inflammation and weakness in the affected limbs.
Joint inflammation occurs because the immune system attacks the tissues surrounding the joint, and it is often similar to the effect of rheumatoid arthritis.
