Dry Mouth/Throat
If you are suffering from a dry mouth or throat, you could also have sleep apnea. The leading cause of a dry mouth/throat is shortness of breath. This symptom is an early sign of sleep apnea. The dryness is common among individuals with both forms of sleep apnea because they both cause episodes of breathlessness making a person gasp for air periodically when sleeping. This leads to other symptoms like mouth breathing as the brain tries to maximize the amount of oxygen. When a person breathes with their mouth for extended periods of time, their mouth and throat tend to become dry.
