Bloating
Diverticulitis can cause excessive production of intestinal gas causing bloating. Bowel blockages also result in feelings of fullness. A partial blockage can slow down movement of food in the digestive tract causing a backlog. Complete obstruction can stop the flow of food via the colon, a condition that requires immediate medical attention. Bloating is a sure sign of diverticulitis if other diverticulitis symptoms accompany it or if it doesn’t go away after dietary changes.
