Additional symptoms

If you are suffering from Crohn’s disease, you may develop a couple of symptoms that have nothing to do with your gastrointestinal system. You have a ten percent chance of developing Crohn’s disease-related eye conditions that cause inflammation, irritation, blurred vision, eye pain, and sensitivity to light. You may even lose your vision or develop permanent eye damage. In some cases, eye problems are a side effect of medications that are used to treat the disease.

Arthritis is another symptom of Crohn’s disease that is not related to the gastrointestinal system. Arthritis affects around 30 percent of people who have Crohn’s disease, and the symptoms tend to be mild and less destructive to the joints. Arthritic symptoms tend to improve once the treatment for Crohn’s disease begins.
