Fever

A fever is your body’s natural way of combating inflammation. Certain medications that are used to treat Crohn’s disease can cause a fever. A fever may also be a predictor of pending Crohn’s disease complications.

One of these complications is toxic megacolon. This is a life-threatening complication that causes the colon to dilate and widen. Toxic megacolon must be treated immediately before the colon tears, which can cause toxic shock.
