Recurring Sinus Infections
Sinus infections, also called sinusitis, are caused when the sinus cavities become inflamed for various reasons. Over 30 million Americans a year get infected by sinus infections, but if you are getting frequent infections (more than twice a year) something else could be wrong. Dr. Elliott says that either your immune system is “not making enough immune system cells to fight infection, or [it’s] making enough cells, but those cells are not functioning properly to fight infection.” You should see a doctor if your symptoms persist for more than 10 days, because you might require antibiotics.
