Start Practicing Mindfulness
Mindfulness has become a buzzword lately, but that doesn’t mean its a bunch of hokum. Mindfulness means being open to the present moment. It is a state of mind that encapsulates your thoughts and feelings without judgment. When someone lives mindfully, it means that they are focused on neither the past nor the future but have settled happily on the “here and now.”
The best examples of mindfulness practices are yoga and meditation. These practices are known to reduce stress, promote positivity, and ward off depression and anxiety. If you are interested in becoming more mindful, you don’t need to start going to yoga classes or doing anything like that. You can begin with simply being grateful for having woken up in the morning.
You can also be mindful when eating. Turn off distractions, like a phone or a book, and just focus on the food—the scents, flavors, textures. Focus on way your meal warms or cools you. Just by being in touch with these simple things, you become less bothered by everything else.
