Get Exercise
Exercise is life-changing and life-saving. Research has proven multiple times that exercise can reduce anxiety. There are a couple of reasons why exercise is such a wonderful activity. First, working out is a great distraction from stressful happenings, especially when you are focusing on form and technique or keeping up with a beat. Second, exercise will dull the negative influence stress has on the body by lowering blood pressure and toning the muscles of the heart.
Lastly, exercise promotes the excretion of hormones called endorphins. These hormones are known to cause feelings of happiness and satisfaction. Endorphins are the main reason people experience a “high” when working out.
Exercise can be anything from yoga, swimming, gardening, hiking, or a martial arts class. Find something that you love to do, and you will have more than an activity, you will have a hobby and access to a whole new community of like-minded people.
