Oily Stools

Pancreatic enzymes and bile acids help to emulsify fats so they can be absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. When the ducts in the pancreas that pass these enzymes and acids into the intestines are blocked by a tumor, the fats will simply pass through undigested. The result is greasy stools with undigested fats that float on the water surface. People also may notice weight loss due to decreased absorption of fats and oils.
