    It should be known that MS rarely, if ever, affects an individual’s ability to comprehend conversations and read. Intelligence is never negatively impacted. However, it might begin to feel that way. MS happens to attack your ability to register information quickly, and thus your response time will decrease.

    Patients with MS often have to take time to respond, and when they speak, the words will come with lags and pauses. Sometimes, speech sounds nasal or slurred. Although rare, sometimes the speech-related symptoms become bad enough that it will affect daily life and can even create difficulties with swallowing food and drink.
