Signs And Symptoms of Hypokalemia

Frequent Urination

When hypokalemia persists for an extended duration, you may experience kidney-related health problems. One problem is that a lack of potassium in the system will lead to increased production of urine and more frequent urination.

Part of the reason you have to run to the lavatory more often is because the body tries to balance itself out by triggering thirst. You drink fluid to compensate for the drop in potassium, but that will only wash the system out more. If the cycle continues, this will cause the kidneys to malfunction. Those with existing kidney conditions who develop hypokalemia are at increased risk of kidney failure.
