Abnormal Heart Rhythm

The heart is finicky. Without the ideal balance of vitamins and nutrients, the heart will be unable to do its job. For example, the heart plays a key role in maintaining the balance between sodium and potassium. If potassium levels dip too low, the heart will work harder and might start to beat irregularly.

Abnormal heart rhythms are also called arrhythmias. While an arrhythimia is not life threatening alone, prolonged irregularities can cause a number of health-related issues. You might notice that you have abnormal rhythms if it feels like your heart is skipping, pounding, fluttering, or beating rapidly. If these are severe, seek medical attention immediately.

If you are getting arrhythmic heartbeats frequently, you should also consider your caffeine intake. Cut back on the caffeine for a while and see if that helps.
