Every cell in the human body requires potassium to function optimally. Any time the balance of potassium is upset, your cells will become more easily fatigued—and that leads to noticeable lethargy.

However, there are a number of conditions unrelated to hypokalemia that also cause fatigue, so you should consider other symptoms on this list if you are feeling more tired than usual.
