Lymph Node Tenderness
Although Pink eye is of course an issue concerning the eye, it can also lead to swelling and tenderness of the lymph nodes in front of the ears. This occurs because the lymph nodes often become swollen and tender when the body is fighting an infection. Swelling of the upper neck can also occur.
If you happen to be so unlucky that you also happen to develop a cold, the associated sore throat and other symptoms like a runny/stuffed nose, and blocked or painful ears can actually lead to a pink eye that is more severe. Therefore, we would suggest that if you happen to develop symptoms of the common cold that you avoid contact with other people if possible, especially in enclosed spaces like on public transit.
