Shortness Of Breath
When a heart murmur is caused by the thickening or narrowing of the aortic valve, which occurs when we age, it is a result of the heart needing to work overtime in order to successfully pump blood throughout the body. When the aortic valve thickens or stiffens this is referred to as aortic sclerosis; meanwhile, when it narrows it is called aortic stenosis. Both can cause an individual to experience shortness of breath. In more serious cases, the heart valve may need to be replaced (which is sometimes done with one from a pig).
