9. Avoid Tight Clothing and Belts
This one might sound silly, but it should not go ignored. We hate to think how many people in the 19th century suffered from heartburn while wearing a tight corset. Don’t get us wrong; we know that squeezing to that one pair of leather pants that (almost) still fit us from high school make us feel good. However, the problem is that tight clothing can put unnecessary pressure on your abdomen, which can cause stomach acid and undigested food to be more likely to shoot up your esophagus.
So, trust us when we say that you will be doing yourself a favor wearing your stretchy pants the next time you are having a big meal (again, try not to overate but we all know how that is nearly impossible at, say, your favourite all you can eat sushi joint. If you insist on wearing tighter clothes, at least make sure you don’t wear high-waisted jeans with a belt.
