6. Cut it Out
If you smoke cigarettes, it is likely old news that smoking can cause a whole slew of health problems. However, you may not have known that there is a link between smoking cigarettes and heartburn. The reason for this is the fact that most cigarettes contain upwards of 400 different chemicals, about 70 of which have been linked to cancer can weaken the lower esophageal sphincter which can increase the odds of heartburn.
Although quitting smoking can seem like an impossible task for many smokers, especially those of you who have been smoking for a while. However, it is something that you can accomplish with some hard work. We suggest talking to your doctor about possible nicotine replacements and to see if there is any smoking cessation support provided by local hospitals or health groups.
