Healthy Diet

Malnutrition is one of the biggest challenges for the aging population. It is also one of the most overlooked and underestimated. Older adults age 65 and over often go into the hospital feeling weak or ill but receive a misdiagnosis for malnutrition. Nutrition is the base for health and wellness. Without a balanced diet, you accelerate the aging process and will be more vulnerable to all kinds of ailments, including depression, alcoholism, and dementia.

Want to eat better? Choose the Mediterranean diet. This means prioritizing fruits, vegetables, healthy fats from olive oil, and eating plenty of lean meats, like fish, in smaller portions. Also, limit acidic foods to help mitigate constipation and indigestion. Drink plenty of water, as well.
