Risks and Preventative Measures
Similar to many other cancer, there are certain factors or criteria that increase your risk of kidney cancers. The pivotal factor would be age. As you grow older, the chance of kidney cancer rises. Obesity, smoking, high blood pressure, a family history of kidney problems, previous treatment for kidney failure, being of the male gender, and other hereditary factors all add into the equation.
While there is no guaranteed method for preventing any kind of cancer, routine screenings and protecting your health by avoiding risky behaviors can help. If you have high blood pressure, for example, you can adopt a healthier diet. If you smoke, stop, because continuous exposure to carcinogenic substances such as tobacco exponentially raises the chance of cancer.
