Emotional and Physical Trauma
Some research has found that for those individuals with a genetic predisposition for fibromyalgia, and added factor of the experience of either head or neck trauma can lead to the development of fibromyalgia. However, it is impossible to know whether or not an individual who is genetically predisposed would end up developing fibromyalgia even without said trauma. Of course, there is no real way to know if this would be the case. Additional types have trauma that have been known to be associated with the onset of fibromyalgia include major surgical procedures, emotional trauma, and different kinds of infections and viruses.
