Are You A Hoarder?

Possessions Without Value

Hoarders, as mentioned earlier, will keep objects that have no true value to others. Most individuals with hoarding addiction do not collect just one thing, however. They will collect anything and everything, if given the chance, and they will be unable to provide a real reason for keeping everything. Although some hoarders form attachments to items and believe they hold sentimental or monetary value, that is often not the case.

Many items that hoarders collect include magazines and catalogs, newspaper clippings, junk mail, plastic bags, boxes, books, utensils, old clothing, broken appliances, household supplies, food, plastic figurines, and waste.

Since hoarding is an uncontrollable compulsion, anything can become a potential object of desire for a hoarder. Anything can be brought into the home, and the individual might suddenly decide that it is too precious to throw away. The feelings attached to this may vary, but the individual will be unable to remove the item.
