What Is Hoarding Addiction?
Hoarding is more than collection. Hoarding is classified as a persisting difficulty with discarding or separating oneself from possessions, even if those possessions lack value. Such behaviors often have negative consequences that put an emotional, physical, financial, and social strain on those with the disorder and their families.
Hoarding is often related to compulsive buying (unable to disregard bargain deals) or compulsive acquisition (such as collecting free flyers), or compulsive searching for unique or ideal items that only have value to the person suffering from the condition.
