Low Blood Count (Unexplained Anemia)
Anemia is where people have fewer than the normal level of red blood cells. There are multiple kinds of anemia, including iron deficiency anemia that could be caused by blood loss. Other kinds of anemia are more insidious. Yet, whenever there is anemia, even without ongoing bleeding and blood loss, anemia needs an explanation.
Many types of cancer can cause anemia. In order to diagnose anemia, doctors may order a colonoscopy, X-rays, and endoscopy to rule out forms of cancer. Once the cause of cancer has been figured out, subsequent measures for treatment will be decided.
