3. Gallbladder structural problems
For some people, the cause of their issues with their gallbladder has nothing to do with things like cholesterol or bilirubin. Unfortunately, some individuals are simply born with a gallbladder that does not function properly (for instance, by not properly empyting). When the gallbladder is not efficiently emptied, the bile inside the gallbladder and in the surrounding areas builds up, which results in the development of gallstones. When these gallstones are very large they can actually block the entry to the gallbladder, which can result in health issues such as pain, a fever, and jaundice.
