Thyroid Diseases Can Affect Anyone
Thyroid diseases can strike at any time, right from birth and throughout your lifetime. At first, the effects of some thyroid-related conditions will be minimal. As mentioned before, you might not even notice you have a problem with your thyroid until the symptoms worsen and do not abate. Usually, it’s when the symptoms have become so overwhelming that the affected individual is forced to visit the doctor that they find out their thyroid isn’t functioning properly.
If the thyroid isn’t working at birth or is missing entirely, children will have impaired growth and neurological conditions. If you suffer from thyroid diseases in the early twenties, you might have other conditions later on in life. For example, a women with amenorrhea in her early twenties is at a higher risk of severe osteoporosis.
