Forcing Eye Contact
People with Asperger’s syndrome also have a problem making and holding eye contact with the people they are talking to. This behavior is linked to lack of confidence; however, recent findings show that making eye contact makes individuals with Asperger’s extremely uncomfortable.
There is another theory explaining this phenomenon, i.e., they don’t realize the significance of eye contact in social communication which can lead to a contrary problem, i.e., forcing eye contact. This problem can make people they are interacting with uncomfortable even when the person with Asperger’s truly believers they are more approachable.
