Narrowed Interests
Children with Asperger’s tend to do poorly in school; however, the reason/s may not be attributed to lack of interest but rather, narrow and focused interests. It could be anything from making models to playing video games or drawing. Such activities grab their attention and offer a deep sense of comfort. When forced to abandon such activities, they tend to get distressed. The same happens if they don’t succeed in their projects. Fostering the narrow interests of Asperger’s sufferers is crucial for their mental and emotional support.
