Respect Your Child
It is important to teach your child to be respectful. However, some people forget how important it is to also respect them. Sometimes people seem to forget that children are also people deserving of respect. For example, do not speak down to them or belittle them, regardless of how silly their questions or ideas may be. Another way to treat your child with respect is to ask their opinion on things, like what they would like to eat or what they would like to wear. Moreover, do not force them to do things that they do not want to do (unless it is something necessary like brushing their teeth). For instance, it is important to respect their bodies and sense of autonomy so do not make them do things such as hugging family members without first asking if they would like to do so.
