Emotional Support
No matter highs and lows that you experience, you shouldn’t be forced to beg for emotional support. “You need to know that [your partner is] there for you and you don’t have to ask for it,” explains Davida Rappaport, spiritual counselor and relationship expert. In other words, if you are having trouble at work, you shouldn’t feel any hesitation in talking about it with your partner—and they should be willing to listen. “They should be willing to step in and make sure that they have your back.”
If your partner is lacking in emotional support, you might be able to work on it with therapy or through communication. However, if your partner refuses to be more responsive towards your emotions, then the relationship will most likely fail to improve.
