Sleep Difficulties
Insomnia, also known as the inability to go to sleep and stay asleep for restorative rest, is a very common issue related to low-T. Worse, lack of sleep can cause other symptoms of reduced testosterone levels even worse, such as brain fog, mood swings, and depression. Sleep apnea, a serious condition that causes pauses in breathing, can also be experienced.
Another reason you might be having trouble sleeping would be the presence of hot flashes and night sweats. These symptoms are usually associated with women going through menopause, but andropause can cause the same thing. Hot flashes occur when the hypothalamus, the temperature regulator located in the brain, as difficulty interpreting signals in the body because of hormone imbalance. When testosterone is too low, the body will feel overheated and signals a torrent of perspiration to cool you down.
