Reduced Bone Mass
Decreased hormone levels are known to cause osteoporosis in both men and women. In men, testosterone is necessary for producing bone and maintaining overall bone volume. That is why men are often have heavier skeletons than women. Although bone density can be improved with a healthy diet and plenty of exercise, if you have low testosterone levels, weight bearing exercises can actually exacerbate bone loss by causing shin splints and other minor fractures. If you have already started developing osteoporosis, you can fortunately halt or even reverse the bone loss with some hormone replacement therapy.
