Numbness Of The Face
We doubt that the Weeknd’s chart topping song “I can’t feel my face when I’m with you” was about Sjogren’s syndrome, but numbness of the face is another indicator of this disease and could be an underlying condition called trigeminal neuralgia, which occurs in approximately twenty percent of individuals with low-grade neuropathy. When not treated, it can develop into what is referred to as glossopharyngeal neuralgia, which results in issues swallowing and pain in the face and mouth, which can be extremely painful. Sadly, often these symptoms are not in isolation; they tend to be co-morbid with other neuropathies.
