Similar to bladder issues caused by lesions in the CNS, bowel problems may also occur. Multiple sclerosis patients oftentimes complain of constipation, but MS can cause diarrhea and incontinence as well.

Again, the lesions cause disruptions between the neural pathways, and that can cause instructions from the CNS to get lost or never make it to where they need to go. Because of this, people with MS might miss the signals that they need to use the bathroom, which can cause a number of bowel-related problems.
