Endometrial Cancer
A type of uterine cancer that is quite uncommon is uterine sarcoma. This type of cancer develops in the muscle and tissues that keep the uterus in place. It is most commonly diagnosed after unusual vaginal bleeding occurs. Individuals who are obese and/or take estrogen without progesterone are at an increased risk of developing this type of cancer.
Genetics, taking the drug tamoxifen for the treatment of breast cancer, and radiation of the pelvic area can also put someone at a higher risk. Although endometrial cancer is often curable, it is less likely to be cured of uterine sarcoma.
