Pancreatic Cancer
Pancreatic cancer is yet another cancer on this list that is more often than not without symptoms. Symptoms of pancreatic cancer include: jaundice, stool that is either light in colour or greasy in texture, pain in the back and/or belly, blood clots, and the enlargement of the gallbladder or liver.
When pancreatic cancer is discovered, it is usually at the point that it has already spread to areas outside of the pancreas. The majority of pancreatic cancers develop in the exocrine cells, which produce enzymes that are secreted into the small intestine in the body. Since this type of cancer does not secrete hormones and does not usually cause obvious signs/symptoms, it is not usually caught early. Unfortunately, pancreatic cancers do not tend to respond well to current cancer treatments.
Individuals with certain kinds of malignant pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors tend to have a better prognosis than those with pancreatic exocrine cancers.
