Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma
Lymphoma is a cancer that effects the body’s lymphatic system, which is one part of the immune system. Lymphatic tissue is in different parts all over the body; this means that lymphoma can develop almost anywhere. Hodgkin lymphoma and non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) are the two most common forms of lymphoma.
The most common symptoms of are: swollen lymph nodes (especially in the neck, groin, or armpit), pain or swelling of the abdomen, unexplained weight loss/fatigue/fever, issues breathing, a persistent cough, and chest pain. When lymphocytes (which are one type of white blood cell) in the lymph nodes called Reed-Sternberg cells are large and abnormal, this is referred to as classic Hodgins lymphoma.
Fortunately, although prognosis depends on the stage at which treatment begins and the type of lymphoma, lymphoma tends to respond well to current treatments.
