    Skin and Nail Changes

    If PH is not diagnosed early enough, you will start notice other changes in your physical appearance that may be alarming. Alongside edema, you may discover that your nail beds, lips, and gums have a bluish tint. Your complexion may start to look ashen. The reason those afflicted with pulmonary arterial hypertension oftentimes develop this bluish color, also known as cyanosis, is because there is not even oxygen being delivered your skin.
