Stool Changes

Stool changes are also a common symptom of gallbladder attacks. When gallstones which are a combination of cholesterol, bile and hardened bilirubin increase in size and block the bile ducts completely, this forces bile into the small intestines which in turn, changes the color of stool to a clay-like or pale color as the bile looks for an alternative exit.

When this symptom is accompanied by loose, explosive, float or frequent bowel movements up to 10 times daily, this is a sure indication of a gallstone attack. Although bile duct blockage caused by gallstones results in bowel movements which are characterized by a chalky or light color, stool consistency can also be loose and lighter. Diarrhea is a common symptom with stool changes. It can cause dehydration if the patient doesn’t make a point of increasing their fluid intake. It can also cause other symptoms like headaches.
