Jaundice
When gallstones get lodged in or block a bile duct, the substance remains in your bloodstream turning the color of your eyes and skin into a yellowish hue (referred to as Jaundice). Bile which is a mixture of bilirubin, bile salts, and cholesterol is released by the liver to break down food after meals. But bile can’t be released to aid digestion if gallstones have already developed. Gallstones block the bile duct forcing bile to remain and accumulate in the liver. This buildup increases the levels of waste in the blood causing Jaundice.
