Urine Changes

As the name suggests, gallstones are stones (small stones) comprised of a mixture of bile pigment, cholesterol, and calcium salts. When they form inside the gallbladder, the pigment gives urine a yellow or dark brown color. However, some patients tend to have a deep brown or darker color like maroon which is clearly distinguishable from the healthy straw to yellow shade that symbolizes a hydrated system.

Having excess waste products in your urine is a clear indication of gallstones which are signs of a blocked bile duct. Having discolored or dark urine signifies that you have high levels of potentially dangerous waste circulating in your body. It is also an indication of dehydration. Blood tinged urine is a sign of kidney damage. So, see a doctor immediately when you notice any urine changes. However, consider the fact that there are foods like beetroot which can cause your urine to change color. If you notice urine changes after eating such foods, there is no cause for concern.
