What Should I Do If I Get The Flu?
From a healthcare standpoint, the most important thing to do when you have the flu is to rest at home. Avoid contact with other people, because you are most likely contagious. Be sure to keep your fever controlled with over-the-counter medications, like acetaminophen, and drink plenty of fluids.
Keep in mind that self-isolation is beneficial, regardless of how sick you are. When you have the flu, you are contagious for the first 3-4 days of feeling symptoms. That said, some healthy adults will be contagious within 1 day of getting infected and remain contagious up to a week after getting sick.
